Zimbabwe
Reduced to a pre-modern world Zimbabwe has been steadily collapsing. A country that once exported large amounts of food now can't feed their own. Zimbabwe was referred to as the “Bread Basket” of Africa, and now is a "basket case". A model of independence and one of Africa's fasting growing economies is in treacherous decline. Hunger, poverty, and fear have taken over. With even greater vengeance is AIDS.  AIDS is not just a medical issue-it covers political, legal, religious, economic, and cultural bases.
Globally HIV/AIDS, an epidemic of signification is being called a Satanic Serial Killer.  Millions of orphans multiplying daily.  There are no boundaries with this disease.

  • Spend some time in the Gallery looking at the faces. These are faces of hope. Many know they are cared about and loved but many more need to know!

  Lamentations 3:22-24
“The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Thy faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I have hope in Him.”
( NAS)

WHY???
Here are a few factors to consider: poverty, malnutrition (poor immune system), denial (lack of knowledge of disease etiology-strong cultural influence), stigma, gender oppression, and migration of families, men taking jobs that keep them at a distance from wives, civil conflict, and lack of infrastructure.

A Challenge to you-you may be thinking: What can I possibly do?

  • Pray: Mark 12:33 and to love Him with all the heart….
  • educate yourself (an average person in the Western World knows very little about AIDS) or what’s happening in other countries
  • Support Christian Organizations or Missionaries who promote HIV/AIDS education, prevention and motivational encouragement in Africa or any country (know directly where your money is going)
  • Encourage those with a heart for God’s less fortunate people to go (especially youth)
  • Realize that we are not Bono, Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Oprah or Bill Gates -Yes, they bring $$ (lots of $$) and are bringing awareness but we bring the power of the Holy Spirit
  • These are not invisible people but they have been forgotten-History and God will be the judge:  Mathew 25:31-46 “But when the Son of Man comes in His Glory, and all the angels with Him….
